We found that the resting\ncysts of non-parasitic soil ciliate Colpoda cucullus Nag-1 showed a strong tolerance to both\nextremely low and high pH. The purpose of this study was to explore the tolerance\nmechanism to extreme pH. Most cysts were alive after exposure to 0.1 M HCl (pH 1) for 4\nh, or after exposure to 0.1 M NaOH (pH 13) for 3 h. Such tolerance to extreme pH is acquired\ngradually over several days after encystment induction. The resting cysts were reversibly\ndehydrated by osmotic pressure when they were transferred from water to 0.1 M HCl or 0.1\nM NaOH. This result suggests that H+/Cl- and Na+/OH- may diffuse through the cyst wall to\nreach the plasma membrane. Acid tolerance was reduced in the presence of protonophore\n(CCCP), suggesting that less permeability of the cyst plasma membrane to H+ may be\nresponsible for acid tolerance.","subitem_description_language":"en","subitem_description_type":"Abstract"}]},"item_2_identifier_registration":{"attribute_name":"ID登録","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_identifier_reg_text":"10.24556/00004711","subitem_identifier_reg_type":"JaLC"}]},"item_2_publisher_8":{"attribute_name":"出版者","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_publisher":"National Research Center for Protozoan Diseases","subitem_publisher_language":"en"}]},"item_2_rights_15":{"attribute_name":"権利","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_rights":"National Research Center for Protozoan Diseases","subitem_rights_language":"en"}]},"item_2_source_id_11":{"attribute_name":"書誌レコードID","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"AA10824856","subitem_source_identifier_type":"NCID"}]},"item_2_source_id_9":{"attribute_name":"ISSN","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_source_identifier":"09174427","subitem_source_identifier_type":"PISSN"}]},"item_2_subject_21":{"attribute_name":"日本十進分類法","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"649","subitem_subject_scheme":"NDC"}]},"item_2_version_type_20":{"attribute_name":"著者版フラグ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_version_resource":"http://purl.org/coar/version/c_970fb48d4fbd8a85","subitem_version_type":"VoR"}]},"item_creator":{"attribute_name":"著者","attribute_type":"creator","attribute_value_mlt":[{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Nakamura, Rikiya","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Sogame, Yoichiro","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Arikawa, Mikihiko","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Suizu, Futoshi","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]},{"creatorNames":[{"creatorName":"Matsuoka, Tatsuomi","creatorNameLang":"en"}],"nameIdentifiers":[{}]}]},"item_files":{"attribute_name":"ファイル情報","attribute_type":"file","attribute_value_mlt":[{"accessrole":"open_date","date":[{"dateType":"Available","dateValue":"2021-02-24"}],"displaytype":"detail","filename":"JPR_30_38-46_2020.pdf","filesize":[{"value":"533.2 kB"}],"format":"application/pdf","licensetype":"license_note","mimetype":"application/pdf","url":{"label":"JPR_30_38-46_2020","url":"https://obihiro.repo.nii.ac.jp/record/4729/files/JPR_30_38-46_2020.pdf"},"version_id":"75fb13a9-fff8-4d83-b2c2-eceaca4de4d5"}]},"item_keyword":{"attribute_name":"キーワード","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_subject":"Colpoda; resting cysts; tolerance to extreme pH","subitem_subject_language":"en","subitem_subject_scheme":"Other"}]},"item_language":{"attribute_name":"言語","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_language":"eng"}]},"item_resource_type":{"attribute_name":"資源タイプ","attribute_value_mlt":[{"resourcetype":"journal article","resourceuri":"http://purl.org/coar/resource_type/c_6501"}]},"item_title":"Tolerance of Colpoda cucullus Nag-1 wet resting cysts to extreme pH (pH 1 and 13): Implications of less permeability of the cyst membrane to H+ and OH","item_titles":{"attribute_name":"タイトル","attribute_value_mlt":[{"subitem_title":"Tolerance of Colpoda cucullus Nag-1 wet resting cysts to extreme pH (pH 1 and 13): Implications of less permeability of the cyst membrane to H+ and OH","subitem_title_language":"en"}]},"item_type_id":"2","owner":"12","path":["326"],"pubdate":{"attribute_name":"PubDate","attribute_value":"2021-02-24"},"publish_date":"2021-02-24","publish_status":"0","recid":"4729","relation_version_is_last":true,"title":["Tolerance of Colpoda cucullus Nag-1 wet resting cysts to extreme pH (pH 1 and 13): Implications of less permeability of the cyst membrane to H+ and OH"],"weko_creator_id":"12","weko_shared_id":-1},"updated":"2023-08-18T07:16:34.191535+00:00"}
