この温度依存性を検討した。コンポスト化反応槽には1リットル容積の断熱型リアクタを用い, 供試材料は大学付属農場より採取した新鮮牛ふんを風乾によって含水率60%w.b.に乾燥したものを堆肥化した。この堆肥化反応における酸素消費速度より比増殖速度を計算した。この結果, 微生物増殖は約54℃で最大になることが見いだされた。一般に60℃で観測される反応速度の最大値は,
