volans orii は，市街地の緑地などに生息する比較的身近な動物であるものの，夜行性の小型動物であるため一般市民の認知度は低い．一方，帯広畜産大学ではエゾモモンガに関する様々な研究がなされており，多くの知見が積み重ねられている．また本種は外見から人々に好印象を与える特徴を持っており，教育の題材として受け入れられやすいと考えられる．そこで本研究では，おびひろ動物園の来園者に動物園に対する意識およびエゾモモンガについてのアンケート調査を行ない来園者の実態を知ることで，より効果的な教育への提言を行なうことを目的とした．調査の結果，年齢や性別，来園時のグループ構成および来園目的の違いは「エゾモモンガを見たことがあるか」，「エゾモモンガが身近に住む動物であることを知っていたか」に関係していなかったものの，自然保護活動に対する興味が強い人ほどこのような経験や認識が豊富であることが明らかになった．また，帯広畜産大学とおびひろ動物園の連携について，
